Amazon PII access for SP-API apps
Buyer names, addresses and customization data sit behind Amazon's restricted roles. We prepare your application and Data Protection Policy controls, support you through Amazon's review, then wire the Restricted Data Token flow.
Why Amazon PII requests stall
- 1.
Use case described too vaguely to justify a restricted role
- 2.
Security answers that do not match the actual architecture
- 3.
Months lost in back-and-forth with Amazon's review
- 4.
Approved, but the RDT flow and data handling built wrong

Questions engineers ask us.
Q01What counts as Amazon PII in SP-API?
Buyer names, shipping addresses, contact details and customization data on orders. Amazon gates them behind restricted roles and returns them only to calls made with a Restricted Data Token.
Q02What is a Restricted Data Token?
A short-lived token from the Tokens API that authorizes specific calls returning PII. Your app requests one per operation and never stores it as a credential.
Q03Who needs PII access?
Custom-product brands, FBM and 3PL fulfilment, SaaS tools for sellers, agencies building integrations, and enterprise brands unifying order data with internal systems.
Q04Can you guarantee approval?
No. Amazon decides. We make the application complete, accurate and consistent with how your system really handles data.
Q05What happens after approval?
Amazon can review developers with restricted access later. Controls built properly now make that review straightforward; see Amazon SP-API audit support.
